I'm Officially a Published Author: A Letter

This is a dream come true! I am blown away by the immediate support that I've received from my friends and family.  There has been so much excitement surrounding this project.  Thank you, KDP Publishing!

I AM A PUBLISHED AUTHOR.  I AM A WRITER.

Several years ago when I was back in high school, a close friend and mentor of mine (Diana Brown) whispered in my ear and said, "you're going to be an author."  I asked her, "How do you know?"

She responded, "I just know things."

I could tell it was a "God Thing."

Don't let anyone ever tell you that something isn't possible.  If you set your mind to it, you can accomplish it.  This project was a learning curve and a huge step out of my comfort zone; however, we have to experience a little fear in order to grow.  I've been writing this story for 6 years.  Since receiving a college education (thank you, NKU!), I picked this novel back up and had to completely rewrite the first 10 chapters because they were absolutely awful and written in the wrong tense, but the core of the story was still there and I still felt like I needed to tell it.  I've developed so much as a writer and reader over the past few years.

I am so proud of this book and this story.  By no means is this book a "literary masterpiece."  I keep telling people that.  I'm extremely critical of my own writing and I'm still finding things I wish I could go back and change, so I may never read what I wrote ever again.   I hear authors actually do that.  Maybe that's just the perfectionist teacher in me?

But like my title alludes, being perfect is impossible.  And I am fully aware of that.

All I know is that this experience has fulfilled me so much over the past few months—writing is addictive.  Not to give anything away, but I've been praying for another idea and one came to me last week... Novel #2 may or may not be in the works... and may or may not already have 15,000 words.

Despite the harsh reviews I may or may not get, I am extremely thankful for this experience.  My career as a writer is not over and I can't wait to share it with my friends, family, AND STUDENTS!!!

Best in everything,

Morgan Bryant
